As president, Peterson will serve on the IL board of directors as a member of the IIA’s six-member executive committee. He will be responsible for the effectiveness of the general leadership of the association and will act as the official representative for the organization at state and national events.
Peterson became president of the family-owned Peterson Insurance Services, and became the sole owner in 2000. The agency has 14 employees and four locations in Central Illinois. He is a founding partner of the Central Illinois Agents Group and a past president of the Farm Agents Council. He is a life member and former president of the Inner Circle Club of Pekin Life Insurance Company. Peterson Insurance Services was named Pekin’s Illinois Agency of the Year in 201 Pe.
Since 2015, Peterson has conferred various powers on IL’s IIA, including regional director, vice president, and elected president.

The organization also offers several awards. Bailey Family Insurance and James Unland & Co. each received the IL Agency of the Year Award; Daniel McNally was named Agent of the Year and Tyler Sandrock was named Young Representative of the Year.
IIAs of IL member organizations are awarded the Agency of the Year Award which exemplifies leadership and innovation in the industry.
Bailey Family Insurance is based in Springfield. Owners Mark and Christine Bailey crossed over from captivity four years ago, using IL Knowledge and Resources IIA to start a new agency.
“The agency focuses on a welcoming culture by providing customers with a variety of tools and technologies for a complete review and communication of their insurance,” said IL’s IIA. “The agency’s emphasis on technology and communications enables the team to get work done quickly and easily from anywhere, and to focus on sales and services.”
James Unland & Co. has locations in Pekin, East Peoria, Morton, Metamora and McComb, Ill. It has grown from three employees to 400 in its 0 years of existence.
“The agency has invested in technological solutions so that some team members can access customers and potential data and video conferencing tools from workstations, laptops or smartphones to provide better access for clients,” the association said. “Technology and ease of communication have provided skills that benefit both employees and clients. James Unland & Co. became brighter through the epidemic when they had the tools to allow team members to meet with clients to ensure virtually continued services.”
The company also created a summer internship program for producers so that college students can gain experience in insurance sales and a supportive environment, IL’s IIA said.
McNally, an Agent of the Year awardee, is an agent for the Diamond Brothers. Insurance in Taylorville and Mount Zion, Ill. The Agent of the Year award honors the outstanding performance and achievements of an individual retail agent.
McNally has been in the insurance industry for over 16 years and has achieved significant growth in the personal line. Diamond Brothers Insurance has his largest personal line book. McNally has had success with retaining commercial lines and cross-selling products. He has improved efficiency and customer service in the agency through the implementation of a new agency management system, customer service center and additional technology. When his community was hit by a natural disaster, he helped clients claim more than 11 11 million.
Recipient of the Young Agent of the Year award is Sandrock, an agent at the Cornerstone Agency in Tampico, Ill. The award is given to a young agent for demonstrating exceptional service to industry, professional trade associations and the community.
Sandrock is a second-generation member of a family-owned company. He began his career in insurance nine years ago. He is a member of the Illinois Young Agents Committee and the Technology Committee. He has attended the Big “I” Legislative Conference in Washington DC and several large “I” Young Agent Leadership Conferences.
Sandrock always assists IIA fundraisers at any public event and IL Mount. He co-organized an annual golf tour to benefit St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
