Aspen hires new group CFO

Aspen Insurance Holdings has announced that Chris Coleman (pictured above) has been appointed Group Chief Financial Officer, effective Tuesday. He will be based in Bermuda and will join the executive committee of Aspen. Coleman replaces current group CFO Kevin Chidwick, who has announced his retirement and will leave Aspen at the end of the year.

Coleman was CFO of Third Point Ray until he merged with Sirius Group. He brings with him extensive trading and capital market experience in Aspen, including the recent acquisition of Sirius Group’s Third Point Ray and the IPO of Third Point Ray. Coleman was instrumental in several other mergers, debt and equity transactions. He has previously served as Chief Accounting Officer of Hearter Point Limited, CFO of Ultra Bermuda Limited and Senior Audit Manager of PWC.

“I’m thrilled to be able to join Aspen at this crucial time of his turn,” Coleman said. “Aspen has taken a number of steps so far that are beginning to take shape and I look forward to working with the team for this dynamic. I look forward to bringing my knowledge and experience to make a positive impact on the culture and help improve the underlying outcomes of the business. ”

Mark Cloutier, executive chairman Mark said, and Aspen Group CEO. “Chris will partner with each member of the Group’s Executive Committee, including Mark Pickering, our Group’s Chief Capital Management Officer and Treasurer, who will continue to lead our capital management strategy and corporate finance initiatives.”

Cloutier also praised Chidwick for his role as CFO.

“During his time at Aspen, Kevin has been instrumental in bringing the business back to profitability despite the challenging environment of the market,” he said. “As the group now looks toward its long-term strategic goals, we respect Kevin’s own time horizon and decision to retire. In Chris we have identified the ideal heir and I am glad we were able to provide a smooth transition. On behalf of the board, I would like to thank Kevin and wish him well in his retirement.
